Mastercard Secures New York BitLicense #
Mastercard Transaction Services (U.S.) LLC has received a BitLicense from the New York State Department of Financial Services. The approval allows the Mastercard subsidiary to operate under New York’s virtual currency regulatory framework, which includes requirements around consumer protection, cybersecurity, financial integrity and operational resilience
The approval matters because it gives Mastercard a regulated route to support digital asset-related payment and settlement infrastructure. Mastercard said the licence aligns with its long-term strategy around digital currencies, including stablecoins and tokenised deposits, while maintaining the compliance and risk standards used across its payments network.
