Mastercard Launches Machine-to-Machine Payments Service
Mastercard Launches Machine-to-Machine Payments Service #
Mastercard has introduced Agent Pay for Machines, a service designed to support programmatic payments between AI agents, machines and digital services. The system is intended for high-frequency, low-value transactions that can be permissioned, orchestrated and settled through Mastercard’s global payments network
The launch matters because agent-driven commerce may require payment infrastructure that works differently from traditional card or point-of-sale payments. Mastercard says the service supports credentialing, spending controls and settlement across cards, accounts and stablecoins, with early participants including Adyen, Ant International, BVNK, Checkout.com, Cloudflare, Coinbase, Stripe and others.
