Visa Invests €500m in European Payments Infrastructure #
Visa has announced €500 million in additional investment in Europe over the next decade, including a new Eurozone data processing centre for local Visa transaction processing. The plan also includes a new Frankfurt location for its Eurozone branch office and Central Europe team, a regional Innovation Centre, a Technology & Solutions Centre in Warsaw and a new European Cyber Fusion Centre
The announcement comes as European policymakers and banks continue to push for greater payments sovereignty and reduced reliance on non-European card networks. Visa is positioning the investment around local resilience, security and governance, including European management, a European board and oversight by the Bank of England, the European Central Bank and national central banks.
