Visa Brings Card Payments Into ChatGPT #

Visa has embedded its payment network into ChatGPT, allowing AI agents to shop and complete purchases on behalf of users with linked Visa cards. OpenAI will provide the technology for agents to interact, make decisions and initiate purchases, while Visa will handle payment authorisation and fraud monitoring

The move matters because agent-led commerce raises new questions for banks, merchants and consumers around authorisation, disputes, spending control and fraud. Visa said the feature will include guardrails such as spending limits, approval steps and approved merchants, while Mastercard is also developing AI-shopping capabilities for business use.
