Visa Rolls Out Tap-Based Card Authentication #
Visa has launched Tap to Confirm and Tap to Activate for issuing banks, working with Keyno and Fidelity Bank (Bahamas) on the first deployment. The tools allow cardholders to verify their identity or activate a new card by tapping their physical Visa card to a mobile device inside the bank’s app
The rollout matters because it shifts some identity checks away from one-time passcodes, call centre verification and activation codes toward possession-based authentication using the card’s EMV chip. Visa says the initial Fidelity rollout is live, with wider expansion planned through 2026.
