Crypto Companies in the UK Have to Register Before September 2026 #
On Sunday, January 13, the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) announced a new regime of regulations under which a new deadline was set for crypto companies in the market. The FCA declared the new deadline for crypto companies to register themselves as of September 2026.
The regime itself will be implemented at the start of the new year, 2027. In the meantime, companies that do not apply for the new registration will be permitted to continue serving their current customer base. However, failing to register by the deadline will bar crypto companies from acquiring new customers post the declared deadline.
Moreover, the FCA declared that prior anti-money laundering (AML) or payment registrations will not automatically carry over to the new registration. This means that crypto companies will likely be required to register under new rules as well.
