Yellow Card Enters Latin America’s Largest Crypto Market With São Paulo-Based GoMoney Buy #

Yellow Card, the Africa-based stablecoin payments firm, has completed its first Latin American acquisition, buying São Paulo-based virtual asset service provider GoMoney in a deal that gives it a direct operational presence in Brazil.

According to a November 4 press release, the transaction closed in October; financial terms were not disclosed. GoMoney, formally known as GoMoney Sociedade Prestadora de Serviços de Ativos Virtuais Ltda., was founded in 2018 and will continue under its founding team as a wholly owned Yellow Card subsidiary.

For Yellow Card clients, the acquisition enables local collections and disbursements in Brazilian reais, including through Pix, Brazil’s instant-payment system, with settlement in stablecoins. Those services will connect with the treasury and liquidity infrastructure Yellow Card already operates across more than 60 markets.

GoMoney has applied to the Banco Central do Brasil for authorization as a virtual asset service provider under Brazil’s Law No. 14,478/2022 and BCB Resolution No. 519/2025, and is currently operating under the country’s transitional regulatory regime while that application is pending.

Chris Maurice, co-founder and CEO of Yellow Card, cited regulatory and operational localization as the basis for the deal. “Building global financial infrastructure requires compliance with local frameworks, local payment rails, and local expertise and relationships to operate effectively,” he said. “GoMoney has built a strong foundation in Brazil over the last eight years, and bringing our businesses together will allow us to deliver greater value to customers while accelerating our long-term ambitions.”

GoMoney co-founder and CEO Maurício Pires cited a shared focus on stablecoins for cross-border payments, with Yellow Card having built that model across Africa and globally while GoMoney concentrated on Brazil.

The deal follows a period of growth for Yellow Card. The Atlanta-headquartered company raised $40 million in August 2026 from investors including Standard Chartered Bank and Sony, and has since obtained regulatory approvals and registrations in Canada, Switzerland, Nigeria, Ghana, and Zimbabwe. Brazil extends that footprint into Latin America.

Stablecoin activity in Brazil grew by roughly 495% between 2024 and 2026, according to data cited by multiple outlets, driven partly by business demand for cross-border transfers and liquidity management.
