Zumo and Quantum Chain to build quantum-secure financial infrastructure for UK institutions #

FCA-registered digital asset platform Zumo has partnered with blockchain infrastructure provider Quantum Chain to develop quantum-secure financial infrastructure in the United Kingdom, the companies announced on October 7, 2026.

The partnership combines Zumo’s digital-assets-as-a-service API stack with Quantum Chain’s post-quantum cryptographic blockchain protocol. The two firms plan to embed post-quantum cryptography across a range of financial instruments, including central bank digital currencies, tokenised deposits, stablecoins, and private institutional networks, as well as cross-border settlement and institutional asset management.

Financial institutions currently face two categories of security threat: the long-term risk posed by cryptographically relevant quantum computers and the near-term risk from AI-driven cyberattacks. The companies specifically cited “harvest-now-decrypt-later” attacks, in which adversaries collect encrypted data today and decode it once sufficiently powerful quantum machines become available.

Nick Jones, Founder and CEO of Zumo, linked the partnership to the UK’s evolving cryptoasset regulatory landscape. Jones said the forthcoming full implementation of the UK’s cryptoasset regulatory regime would release significant pent-up institutional demand, and that partnering with Quantum Chain would ensure clients are protected from both quantum threats and sophisticated AI-led cyberattacks, which he described as converging risks.

Quantum Chain’s Founder and CEO Max Denega, described in the announcement as a British citizen and military veteran, said the deal was a step toward strengthening the British financial ecosystem by bringing quantum-secure infrastructure home.

The immediate scope of the collaboration covers two areas: integrating the companies’ respective systems to support quantum-safe digital asset management across central banks, commercial banks, and regulated institutions; and jointly exploring new digital asset use cases across the UK market. Longer term, the companies said they aim to help build an ecosystem in which institutions can deploy blockchain-based financial services designed to withstand emerging threats.

Quantum Chain operates out of Dubai and Singapore, while Zumo is headquartered in the UK. The partnership comes as UK authorities move toward a more comprehensive licensing framework for digital asset firms.
