NatWest Deploys Adclear’s AI Compliance Agents to Cut Marketing Approval Times by 80% #
NatWest has partnered with Adclear, a provider of agentic compliance software built for financial services, to centralise and automate the review of its marketing and communications content, reducing approval times by 80%.
The move addresses a long-standing structural problem at the bank. NatWest, which serves approximately 20 million customers, had historically managed compliance reviews for each of its major product lines (current accounts, credit cards, loans, mortgages, and savings) through separate tools and manual sign-off processes. As the bank began consolidating its marketing operations onto a single workflow platform, that fragmentation became a bottleneck, with content reviews routinely delaying campaign launches by three to five days.
Adclear’s platform now screens website, social media, advertising, and marketing materials in real time against relevant financial promotions regulations, flagging copy, creative, or disclosure issues before content goes live. The technology integrates directly into NatWest’s existing Workfront workflow system, giving compliance and marketing teams a consistent, centralised review process across every product line and channel. Manual email-based approval chains and a patchwork of legacy tools are being retired as part of the transition.
The deployment is part of NatWest’s broader five-year data and AI transformation programme, which Accenture is supporting alongside the Adclear integration.
The partnership comes amid wider regulatory pressure. According to Adclear, FCA interventions on financial promotions have roughly doubled year-on-year, while the volume of content financial services firms must push through compliance has grown approximately tenfold over the past decade. Doni Hoti, CEO and co-founder of Adclear, said the rules themselves were never the bottleneck: the manual processes built around them were.
A NatWest spokesperson said the technology had turned compliance from something that slowed marketing down into something that actively supports the bank’s pace of operations, with the 80% reduction in approval times allowing teams to focus on campaign quality rather than waiting on sign-off.
Adclear’s client roster already includes Monzo, Lloyds Banking Group, PensionBee, IG Group, Freetrade, and Blockchain.com, among others. The company raised a £2.1 million seed round to scale its compliance automation platform, which it describes as purpose-built for financial services marketing.
