Hyperlayer closes £19.5M Series A2 at £195M valuation to accelerate bank modernisation push #

London-based banking technology firm Hyperlayer has completed a £19.5 million Series A2 funding round, bringing its total capital raised to nearly £50 million since the company was founded roughly two years ago and valuing it at £195 million post-money.

The round was led by repeat investor Flintlock Capital, with Mouro Capital and Susquehanna Private Equity Investments also participating alongside a mix of existing and new backers, according to the company’s announcement. Flintlock co-founder and general partner Joe Shamess will take a seat on Hyperlayer’s board of directors as part of the deal.

Hyperlayer was founded in 2023 by Rob Rooney and Paul Rolles, both former Morgan Stanley colleagues. The company offers a programmable financial services platform designed to let banks, credit unions and other financial institutions build and deploy new customer-facing products quickly, without replacing core banking infrastructure.

The new capital follows a £30 million raise completed in October 2025 and is earmarked for largely the same purposes: building out product, engineering and implementation headcount, and expanding internationally into the US, Europe and Asia-Pacific. The company said it has secured mandates with global Tier 1 banks since launching.

“We’re fortunate to be backed by deep experts in fintech,” said CEO Rob Rooney in the company’s announcement. “They’ve watched us go from a standing start to mandates with global Tier 1 banks in three years. That’s what’s convinced them to back where the company goes next.”

Shamess said the investment represented Flintlock doubling down on the thesis it backed at the outset: that established institutions need to modernise without tearing out the systems that support their resilience and compliance obligations.

Alongside the funding, Hyperlayer announced two internal appointments. Louise Chan, previously chief operating officer and a board director, moves to chief commercial officer, while Ben Helps steps up from chief strategy officer to take over as COO. The changes point to a company now oriented toward commercial scale as it pushes into new markets.
