Three payments veterans launch Movere, a self-funded AI platform for cross-border payments #

A London-based startup founded by three payments industry veterans has launched Movere, an AI-native platform designed to help businesses accept payments and expand into new markets through a single integration.

Movere was founded by Praful Morar (CEO), Walé Abidakun (Chief Strategy Officer), and Lukas Pukaj (Chief Commercial Officer). Their combined careers span Worldpay, Nuvei, Safecharge, BGC Group, PayPal, and NatWest, representing more than 70 years of collective experience in payments, banking, and cross-border money movement, according to the company.

The platform gives merchants access to more than 500 payment methods across over 100 countries through a single connection. A core feature is AI-driven payment routing: businesses can configure their own rules, prioritizing the lowest-cost route or the highest likelihood of transaction approval, and Movere’s AI agents automatically direct each payment accordingly. The company says the AI agents can also handle technical integration within minutes.

Beyond payment acceptance, Movere describes itself as a “payment universe,” a broader merchant money infrastructure organized into five modules. Pay covers online and in-person payment acceptance. Connect handles multi-entity onboarding. Grow, built in partnership with Kumo HR, lets businesses hire and pay staff in new markets without establishing a local legal entity. Unite serves community and membership organizations collecting donations and fees. Empower gives clients direct access to payments and market-entry consultants.

Movere launched without external venture funding. Morar said the decision to self-fund was deliberate, allowing the company to remain entirely customer-focused without pressure from outside investors.

The platform competes with Stripe, Adyen, and Nuvei, the latter being Morar’s former employer, all of which offer global multi-method payment infrastructure. Movere’s stated differentiators include its AI-native architecture, the Grow module’s embedded hiring capabilities, and its fully independent ownership structure.
