EBAday Opens Fintech Zone Applications for Rome 2027, Seeking 16 Early-Stage Startups for Live Pitch Competition #

EBAday has opened applications for the 2027 Fintech Zone, the ninth edition of its annual startup showcase at the payments and transaction banking conference, according to the official EBAday website.

The conference runs 15-16 June at the Roma Convention Center La Nuvola in Rome, co-hosted by the Euro Banking Association (EBA) and Finextra Research. The Fintech Zone gives a select group of early-stage fintech companies the chance to demonstrate their products live before senior leaders and C-suite executives at the two-day summit.

Organisers will accept applications from companies whose products are at proof-of-concept, pilot, or early commercial stage. As in previous years, 16 firms will be chosen from the applicant pool for live demonstrations and pitching sessions on the conference floor, competing for the Fintech Zone trophy before an audience of banking decision-makers.

Past editions have attracted more than 70 applicants from Europe and beyond, with alumni working in payments infrastructure, fraud detection, open banking, and compliance technology. The 2025 Paris event drew entrants from the United States and New Zealand. The 2026 Copenhagen edition, sponsored by itea P2B, featured 16 finalists from what organisers described as a particularly strong applicant field.

For companies that are selected, the Fintech Zone offers access to senior payment industry buyers and decision-makers who are typically difficult for early-stage firms to reach outside of enterprise sales cycles.

EBAday 2027 will be the conference’s 22nd edition and its second visit to Rome. The agenda is expected to cover instant payments, agentic AI, cross-border payments, stablecoins, open banking, and European payments regulation. Early-bird delegate registration is open, with EBA associate member pricing starting at €1,300.

Fintechs interested in applying for the 2027 Fintech Zone can do so through the EBAday website, where eligibility criteria and submission details are available.
