U.S. Bank Launches Protect 360, a Two-Tier Identity and Credit Protection Service Built Into Its Banking App #

U.S. Bank has introduced Protect 360, a consumer protection service that bundles credit monitoring, identity surveillance, and data-privacy tools into a single offering within its mobile app and online banking platform. The Minneapolis-based bank announced the launch on October 7, 2026.

The service has two tiers. Protect 360 Essentials is free to eligible U.S. Bank customers and includes credit profile monitoring, alerts when personal information appears on data broker sites, and guidance to help users remove exposed data. Protect 360 Premium costs $9.99 per month plus applicable sales tax, requires a U.S. Bank checking or savings account, and adds automated data removal and up to $1 million in identity theft coverage.

Protect 360 replaces the bank’s existing credit monitoring service and extends coverage to include identity and privacy protections. The product scans for personal information on the dark web and data broker databases and notifies account holders when sensitive details may have been compromised.

Arijit Roy, head of consumer and business banking products at U.S. Bank, said in the announcement that basic monitoring tools have become “almost a baseline expectation” as fraud and data exposure have grown more prevalent. He added that customers want more than after-the-fact alerts and are looking for guidance on where they are exposed and what steps they can take.

U.S. Bank said Protect 360 is integrated with its Smartly Checking and Smartly Savings accounts and the Smartly Visa Signature credit card, positioning it as part of its standard account offerings rather than a standalone product.

Retail banks have added identity theft and credit monitoring tools to their consumer account packages in recent years as digital fraud incidents have grown.
