TrueLayer Raises $27 Million in CDP Venture Capital-Led Investment #
TrueLayer announced a $27 million investment on October 8, 2026, led by Italy’s CDP Venture Capital with participation from existing and new investors.
The London-based company was founded in 2016 by Francesco Simoneschi and Luca Martinetti. Its Pay by Bank service uses open banking to let customers pay directly from their bank accounts. TrueLayer says its network operates in 22 countries, serves more than 30 million European consumers, and supports businesses including Ryanair and Just Eat.
The announcement positions the investment as support for European payment infrastructure and greater independence from US card networks. CDP Venture Capital also highlighted the role of Italian engineering talent in developing that infrastructure.
TrueLayer employs 70 people in Italy, representing roughly a quarter of its workforce. Milan is a core engineering hub, and the company expects to continue hiring there through 2027.
