HSBC launches HSBCnio platform to connect transaction banking with corporate workflows #

HSBC launched HSBCnio, a digital transaction banking platform that lets corporate and institutional clients access the bank’s services from within their existing tools and systems. The bank announced the platform on 29 September 2026 at the opening of the Sibos conference in Miami.

The platform provides three modes of access: a redesigned web and mobile interface, direct system-to-system connectivity through APIs, and AI-powered interfaces that let clients query banking information in natural language. HSBCnio uses the Model Context Protocol, the open standard developed by Anthropic and now widely adopted across enterprise software, to connect AI tools to live banking data.

Treasury teams can use the platform to view consolidated cash positions and transaction histories, manage trade loans and foreign exchange exposures, and monitor payment flows through a single interface. The bank said the product targets multinationals whose finance operations span several ERPs and treasury management systems.

Amber Henderson-Smart, HSBC’s global head of client connectivity, said the design philosophy was to meet clients where they already operate rather than requiring them to adopt another proprietary portal. “HSBCnio is designed around the way our clients run their businesses, giving them one digital solution with multiple ways to bank based on their preferences,” she said, according to the bank’s press release.

HSBCnio is the first product to bring together HSBC’s API connectivity and embedded finance capabilities under a single branded layer. The bank had previously developed these separately through its developer portal over several years as part of an effort to modernise its transaction banking infrastructure, which covers payments, cash management, trade finance, and foreign exchange for large corporate and institutional clients.

HSBC said availability and specific features may vary by market and client configuration, indicating a phased rollout. The bank did not disclose a timeline for full global deployment or the number of clients currently on the platform.
