Airtel Money Trims London IPO Target to $800 Million After Investors Push Back on Valuation #

Airtel Money, the mobile-money arm of London-listed Airtel Africa, is preparing for a stock market debut on the London Stock Exchange, with a prospectus filing expected soon and trading targeted for October 2026. Investor resistance has led the company to reduce both its fundraising target and implied valuation.

Bloomberg reported that Airtel Africa now seeks to raise at least $800 million through the offering, down as much as 60% from the $1.5 billion to $2 billion range reported when the deal was first announced in April. The implied valuation has been revised to $8 billion to $9 billion, from roughly $10 billion in earlier investor conversations. Final terms have not been set.

The revision is consistent with standard price-discovery practice, in which banks and issuers gauge institutional appetite before launching an offering and adjust terms accordingly. Airtel Africa has declined to comment on the revised plan.

At the lower end of the new range, the listing would be one of the larger offerings on the London equity market in recent years. Citigroup is the primary bookrunner.

Airtel Money operates across 14 Sub-Saharan African markets, serving around 54 million active customers and processing more than $215 billion in annualized transaction value. The unit reported approximately $1.35 billion in revenue for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2026, up about 28% year on year.

Airtel Africa named London as its preferred listing venue in July 2026, alongside its June-quarter results announcement. Chief Executive Sunil Taldar said at the time that a London listing would give the business access to a broad international investor base, given the cross-border nature of Airtel Money’s operations.

The reduced target reflects continued investor caution around African fintech valuations. A filing with the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority is expected as soon as this week.
