Zopa launches ‘Ask Zopa’ conversational AI agent for Biscuit account holders #
UK digital bank Zopa has introduced a conversational AI assistant called “Ask Zopa” for customers holding its Biscuit current account. The feature is available through the bank’s mobile app and accepts voice and text inputs, letting customers move money, pay invoices, check balances, and open savings pots without navigating standard app menus.
One capability lets users photograph a restaurant receipt and instruct the assistant to calculate and send each person’s share of the bill, a task that previously required switching between apps. Customers can also give the assistant access to accounts held at other banks, allowing it to build a personalised picture of their finances and tailor savings recommendations over time.
Zopa says the feature runs on its own AI platform using an agentic architecture, meaning the system can carry out multi-step tasks rather than just answering questions. The bank describes the approach as moving “beyond static app journeys” toward a model that retains memory across sessions and adapts guidance to individual spending and saving habits.
Clare Gambardella, Zopa’s Chief Customer Officer, said the goal was to make managing money “as simple as having a conversation,” with the app helping customers plan, save, and make financial decisions in real time.
The rollout follows other AI activity at Zopa. In May, the bank co-founded Jobs2030, a coalition initiative targeting the upskilling of 100,000 banking professionals in AI disciplines before the end of the decade. The programme launched with 22 founding partners from across the financial services industry.
Zopa recently reported pre-tax profits of £65 million for the year ended 31 December 2025, its third consecutive year in the black. Other UK challengers including Monzo and Revolut are also developing AI-assisted features for their apps.
