PayTabs to Acquire Amazon Payment Services' MENA Operations in $100 Million-Plus Deal
PayTabs to Acquire Amazon Payment Services’ MENA Operations in $100 Million-Plus Deal #
Saudi Arabia’s PayTabs Group has agreed to acquire the Middle East and North Africa operations of Amazon Payment Services in a transaction valued at more than $100 million.
Both companies have approved the agreement, according to the announcement. Neither the precise purchase price nor the transaction structure has been made public. The deal transfers Amazon’s regional payments business, covering nine MENA countries and serving more than 3,500 merchants, to PayTabs’ platform.
Once integrated, the combined entity is projected to handle more than SAR 150 billion, or roughly $40 billion, in annual transaction volume. PayTabs says that scale would make it the largest payments infrastructure provider in the MENA region. The Saudi-founded company’s platform covers payment processing, automated transaction switching and payouts. Over several years, the company has built direct banking connectivity, regulatory licences and AI-driven infrastructure across the region.
Both companies have said continuity will be a priority for merchants currently using Amazon Payment Services throughout the integration. Faster onboarding and stronger localised compliance are among the stated benefits for businesses operating across multiple MENA markets after the transition.
The MENA payments sector is fragmented, with varying banking systems, regulatory frameworks and digital adoption rates across the region. Amazon Payment Services, which launched as a standalone regional brand, offered online payment processing, local payment method acceptance, payment links and fraud protection tools to businesses across the nine-country footprint that will now move to PayTabs.
The transaction is subject to customary regulatory approvals before closing. No timeline for completion has been disclosed by either party.
