Scalable Capital Claims European First With ‘Agentic Investing’ That Lets ChatGPT, Claude and Grok Place Trades #

Munich-based digital broker Scalable Capital on Tuesday became what it describes as the first bank in Europe to open its investment platform directly to autonomous AI agents. The company launched a feature called “Agentic Investing” that lets customers connect their brokerage accounts to major AI assistants including OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Anthropic’s Claude, and Grok from SpaceXAI.

The launch, announced on August 25, allows clients to activate the feature through their account profile settings and link it to any compatible AI assistant via the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard originally developed by Anthropic that has since been adopted widely across the AI industry. Scalable Capital also provides a Command Line Interface (CLI) option for users who prefer a local setup.

Once connected, investors can interact with their portfolios using plain-language prompts. According to the company’s announcement, the integration supports executing buy and sell orders, setting up savings plans, managing watchlists, configuring price alerts, and accessing market data and financial news. Natural-language search for stocks, ETFs, and derivatives is also supported.

The company included several safeguards to address concerns about handing investment decisions to automated systems. Users must explicitly approve any trade or savings plan before it is executed, payments are never handled by agents directly, and agentic access can be deactivated at any time. All account permissions from the standard Scalable app carry over to the agentic interface.

Speaking to Reuters, co-founder and co-CEO Erik Podzuweit described the rollout as a “first step,” acknowledging that retail investors may be cautious about entrusting automated AI agents with their financial decisions at the outset. In the company’s press materials, he called agentic investing the most significant technological shift in fintech since the advent of internet banking.

Most European banks and brokerages have so far limited AI deployment to internal operations or customer service chatbots. Scalable Capital says it is among the first to expose its full trading infrastructure directly to third-party AI models on behalf of retail clients.

The feature is available to Scalable Capital customers and can be activated on the web under Profile > Security.
