Dutch AI Fintech Neno Closes €6.6M Seed Round to Automate Accounting and Tax for Europe’s SMEs #

Amsterdam-based fintech Neno has secured €6.6 million in seed funding to scale its AI-native platform for small and medium-sized business accounting, payroll and tax, with plans to expand across wider European markets.

The round was led by New York-based venture capital firm AlleyCorp, with participation from fintech-specialist investors Motive Partners and Firstminute Capital. A group of angel investors also joined, including executives from AI company Hugging Face and Dutch payments firm Mollie, according to reporting by Dutch IT Channel.

Neno’s platform consolidates bookkeeping, payroll, tax obligations and business banking into a single AI-powered interface. The company says this replaces the fragmented stack of separate service providers that most SMEs currently rely on. The company’s team draws on backgrounds at fintech firms including Mollie, Adyen, Remote and Plaid, as well as professional services firms Deloitte, BDO and EY.

The startup argues the traditional model for SME financial services, largely unchanged for five decades, is structurally broken. Business owners must maintain separate relationships with banks, bookkeepers and tax advisors, with no unified view of their financial position. Neno also points to a structural shortage of qualified accountants as an additional pressure on incumbents.

The market opportunity is substantial, according to the company. More than half of Europe’s 26 million SMEs outsource accounting, payroll and tax obligations to external providers, a segment Neno puts at over €200 billion annually. The startup’s primary target is businesses with between 10 and 100 employees.

Fresh capital will fund several priorities: the launch of a new product called Neno Labs, deeper investment in what the company describes as ‘Ambient AI’ (autonomous systems running continuously in the background to handle financial administration), and the build-out of its accounting, tax and commercial teams. European market expansion beyond the Netherlands is targeted for 2027.
