DBS Bank has deployed an agentic AI system to about 1,500 relationship managers and credit risk managers across its global operations to speed up how the bank prepares credit assessments for large and mid-sized corporate clients.
The system runs more than 70 tasks through a set of specialised AI agents, drawing on annual reports, industry research and internal bank records. Those agents produce a draft credit memo, the document banks use to evaluate a corporate borrower’s financial health, business outlook and risk profile before approving financing.
DBS said the rollout follows a pilot with around 150 employees. The bank is targeting a 30% reduction in time spent on credit memo preparation and related work, tasks that currently account for up to 40% of a relationship manager’s working hours.
The tool is designed as an aid rather than a substitute for human judgment. Relationship managers and credit risk managers can direct the agents to conduct additional research and revise the draft, but remain responsible for the final document and are expected to apply their own knowledge of clients, industries and the wider business environment.
Han Kwee Juan, Group Head of Institutional Banking at DBS, said the bank sees agentic AI as a means of “reimagining corporate banking,” adding that the capability has allowed DBS to encode the expertise of its best relationship managers and credit risk managers into a scalable analytical tool.
DBS expects the deployment to give relationship managers more time for client conversations, while freeing credit risk managers to focus on portfolio strategy, risk calibration and identifying emerging risks.
The corporate credit rollout is part of a wider push on agentic AI at DBS. In July, the bank announced agentic upgrades to its DBS Joy and DBS digibot virtual assistants, extending AI capabilities to about 10 million retail and corporate customers across Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
