Chime Seeks Blockchain Partners to Add Stablecoin Wallets to Its Banking App #
Chime Financial, the San Francisco-based consumer fintech that went public on Nasdaq in June 2025, is evaluating whether to add stablecoin functionality to its mobile banking app, Bloomberg reported, citing unnamed sources familiar with the plans and a document the outlet reviewed.
Chime approached blockchain technology companies in late spring and asked them to submit proposals for end-to-end stablecoin wallet services that could be integrated into the Chime platform, the report said. The goal, according to sources cited by Bloomberg, is to let Chime customers send and receive stablecoins without opening a separate account with a third-party crypto wallet provider. Chime did not respond to requests for comment.
Rain, a stablecoin infrastructure startup, was among the firms that held discussions with Chime, Bloomberg reported. Earlier this year, Rain partnered with Western Union to launch a stablecoin-backed Visa card across 37 markets.
Chime, which trades under the ticker CHYM, offers fee-free checking and savings accounts, early paycheck access, and a credit-builder product to millions of US consumers. It is one of the most widely used digital banking platforms in the United States.
Stablecoins are digital tokens whose value is pegged one-to-one to assets such as the US dollar. Previously associated mainly with crypto trading and decentralized finance, they are now attracting interest from financial services companies looking to offer faster, lower-cost payment options to retail customers. The GENIUS Act, signed into law in July 2025, created the first federal regulatory framework for payment stablecoins in the US.
No timeline for a potential launch has been disclosed, and Chime has not confirmed which blockchain provider, if any, it intends to select.
