Cloudflare launches wallets and identity system for autonomous agent transactions #
Cloudflare announced two new products on August 4, 2026, the third day of its “Agents Week” event: Cloudflare Wallets and cloudflare.pay. Both are designed to let AI agents identify themselves and make purchases autonomously on the web.
The identity product, cloudflare.pay, gives each Cloudflare account a unique, human-readable web address as a persistent, verifiable identifier. Account holders can delegate that identity to individual agents they deploy. Agents receive handles in the format research.example.cloudflare.pay, so sellers can confirm who authorized a given transaction.
Cloudflare Wallets uses a two-tier structure. An Account Wallet, held by the human account owner, stores stablecoins funded by bank transfer and is the top-level balance from which spending authority flows. Under it, users can create Virtual Wallets for individual agents, each operating through API keys. The Account Wallet owner sets limits on each Virtual Wallet, including a spending cap, an approved merchant list, and a maximum transaction size the agent cannot independently exceed.
Payments run over x402, an open protocol for stablecoin micropayments that Cloudflare has supported through its Monetisation Gateway product. With x402, agents can pay for API calls, Model Context Protocol tools, data, and AI inference on a per-use basis without creating an account at each provider. Cloudflare’s blog noted that the ability to try a service for a few cents reduces friction when agents evaluate multiple vendors at once.
Cloudflare said the two products together cover both sides of an agentic transaction: sellers can verify the source of a request, and human account holders retain control over what their agents can spend and where. Wallet handles are currently available through a waitlist, with stablecoin funding and live payment functionality to follow. Mastercard and Natural have also announced products targeting agent-driven transactions.
