CIBC Rolls Out AdvisorAssist AI Tool Nationally, Promising Up to 50% Cut in Admin Time #

CIBC has launched a proprietary AI platform called AdvisorAssist across its national network, with the bank saying the tool could reduce the time financial advisors spend on routine administrative tasks by as much as 50 per cent.

Announced on July 31, 2026, AdvisorAssist uses generative AI to capture and summarize notes during client meetings and automate follow-up documentation. The platform also integrates regulatory compliance activities into the same workflow, in response to growing compliance requirements facing Canadian wealth advisors.

Developed entirely in-house by CIBC’s engineering and advisory teams, the tool was built through collaboration across advisor, regulatory supervision, technology, and compliance groups. The bank says it was designed with compliance safeguards and will roll out across multiple business lines, including Personal Banking, Imperial Service, and Wealth Management.

AdvisorAssist joins a suite of AI tools CIBC has been building over the past two years. The bank’s DocuMind platform, launched in 2025, processes approximately 63,000 documents a month and has saved an estimated 16,000 hours per quarter since going live. A separate tool, CRTeX, provides advisors with real-time client insights and suggested next-best actions to support more personalized conversations. CIBC’s Voice Assistant, also launched in 2025, has handled more than 16 million client calls.

On the same day, CIBC also unveiled CAI 2.0, which the bank describes as the first enterprise-wide agentic AI workspace in Canadian banking. Unlike conventional chat-based assistants, CAI 2.0 allows internal teams to delegate complex, multi-step tasks to AI agents that can plan, coordinate, and complete those tasks autonomously, including assembling pitch books, coordinating compliance workflows, and condensing financial analysis. The platform builds on the original CIBC AI tool, known as CAI, which has been adopted by more than 50,000 employees globally, with around 20,000 staff using it on any given day.

The two announcements extend CIBC’s AI deployment from earlier productivity tools to broader use across client-facing and operational functions.
