Samsung Enters US Credit Market with Galaxy Card, Partnering with Barclays on Visa-Network Offering #

Samsung Electronics America has entered the consumer credit market with the Samsung Galaxy Card, a co-branded credit card issued by Barclays US Consumer Bank on the Visa network and integrated into Samsung Wallet.

The card carries no annual fee and is built around a tiered cash-rewards structure. Cardholders earn 5% on purchases made directly with Samsung, including Galaxy smartphones and home appliances; 3% on purchases made through Samsung Wallet; 2% on eligible streaming services; and 1% on all other spending. Rewards have no cap and do not expire, according to Samsung.

New applicants who open an account from July 22, 2026 and spend $2,000 within 90 days receive a $200 welcome bonus. The card also provides a 20% discount on Samsung’s VIP Advantage membership program. Customers who use the Galaxy Card to pre-order an upcoming Galaxy device earn 5% cash rewards on that purchase.

The card loads automatically into Samsung Wallet as a digital-first product, though a physical card can be issued. Doug Villone, head of cards and partnerships at Barclays US Consumer Bank, said the bank believes digital wallet cards are where consumers want to use credit in the future.

The Galaxy Card follows Apple’s entry into consumer credit. Apple launched the Apple Card with Goldman Sachs in 2019, and both products reserve their highest rewards tier for purchases within their respective hardware and services ecosystems. The Galaxy Card’s 3% rate applies to all Samsung Wallet transactions, while Apple Card’s 3% tier covers only Apple Pay purchases at a specific set of named merchants.

Samsung is expected to hold a Galaxy Unpacked event in the near term. The card’s pre-order reward structure gives buyers a financial incentive to commit to new hardware ahead of release. Applications are open online and at Samsung retail locations across the United States.
