Chime Brings Commission-Free Stock Trading and Managed Portfolios to Its Banking App #
Chime Financial launched Chime Invest on Monday, July 20, 2026, adding an investment product directly to its mobile banking app.
The product offers two options within a single account. Members can trade U.S. stocks and exchange-traded funds commission-free, with holdings covered by SIPC protection up to $500,000, or they can choose a managed portfolio built by Atomic Invest, an SEC-registered investment adviser, tailored to their goals and risk tolerance.
Both options are available from $1 with no account minimums. Management fees on the robo-advisory option vary by membership tier: Chime Prime members pay nothing, Chime Plus members are charged a 0.10% annual fee, and standard members pay 0.25% per year.
Chime cited figures suggesting roughly 40% of Americans hold no stock. An internal survey found members pointed to lack of time, more pressing financial priorities, and concerns about advisory costs as barriers to investing. The company said it designed the product to lower those barriers by bringing investing into an app its members already use for daily banking.
Chime is rolling out access in stages, with all members expected to gain entry over the coming weeks.
With the addition, Chime competes more directly with dedicated investment platforms such as Robinhood. The company, which trades on Nasdaq under the ticker CHYM and has built its customer base largely among Americans earning below $100,000 a year, reported its first GAAP-profitable quarter earlier this year, with net income of $53 million and revenue growth of 25% year-on-year in Q1 2026.
