Klarna Adds Free 'Money MOT' Financial Health Checks Through Money Wellness Tie-Up
Klarna Adds Free ‘Money MOT’ Financial Health Checks Through Money Wellness Tie-Up #
Klarna has partnered with UK financial wellbeing provider Money Wellness to give its customers free access to a financial health check delivered through the Klarna app, the companies announced.
The service, branded the “Money MOT,” is available to all Klarna users rather than only those in arrears or actively seeking debt help. According to the announcement, the check provides a personalised overview of a user’s finances along with practical steps, from everyday budgeting guidance to advice on increasing income and managing debt. Users can choose how they engage with the service: speaking directly to a Money Wellness adviser, booking a call for a later time, or completing an online health check via a secure link.
For Klarna, best known for payments and shopping services, the tie-up adds a guidance tool aimed at reaching customers earlier in their financial lives. Abby Vickers, Klarna’s head of financial services in the UK, said in the company’s press release that the Money MOT offers a quick, free way for people to assess where they stand and receive tailored tips, whether their finances are healthy or in need of attention. She described the goal as bringing Money Wellness’s expertise into the app so support is readily accessible.
Money Wellness is a UK provider commissioned by the Money and Pensions Service to deliver free debt help, reportedly supporting around 1,000 people a day and operating as one of only two commissioned debt relief hubs nationally. The partnership could broaden its reach beyond people already seeking assistance by placing its services in front of Klarna’s wider retail audience.
Sebrina McCullough, Money Wellness’s director of external relations, said in the release that financial wellbeing involves more than addressing problems once they emerge, framing the collaboration as a way to help people feel confident and in control of their money day to day. She said the firm was pleased to make free financial support easily accessible to Klarna customers.
The move follows a wider trend among banking, credit and fintech firms to build budgeting tools, spending insights and access to guidance into their platforms as pressure on household finances continues. Industry observers note that offering support before difficulties become acute has become a growing priority across the sector.
