Amazon rolls out Pay by Bank option for UK customers #

Amazon has launched a Pay by Bank payment option in the UK, allowing customers to pay directly from their bank accounts without using cards. The new method uses open banking infrastructure to enable account-to-account payments, offering an alternative checkout option alongside existing card and wallet payments.

The rollout reflects growing interest among large merchants in lower-cost payment methods that bypass card networks. For Amazon, Pay by Bank could reduce transaction fees while supporting faster settlement, while banks and open banking providers see the move as a significant step toward wider adoption of account-to-account payments in everyday online commerce.
