Visa completes first A2A transaction in the UK with Kroo Bank, Utilita and Tink #

Visa has announced the completion of the first commercial variable recurring payment (cVRP) facilitated via its new Visa A2A (account-to-account) solution in the UK. The milestone transaction saw Kroo Bank, Utilita and Tink collaborate to pay an energy bill, showcasing the solution’s readiness for broader roll-out

Visa says this upgrade brings enhanced consumer protections to A2A payments—similar to those enjoyed for card payments—including immediate payment confirmation, full transparency of mandates, and the ‘Secured by Visa’ trust-mark. The solution is designed for bills and subscription-style use cases and runs on the UK’s Faster Payments Service

According to Visa-commissioned research, 60% of UK consumers said they would be likely to try new ways to pay bills if available, underscoring strong demand for modernisation of recurring payments. The initiative is part of Visa’s push to bring open banking-enabled payment models to the market with robust consumer safeguards.
