Visa pilots USDC stablecoin payouts for global gig workers and creators #

Visa has begun testing USDC stablecoin payouts as part of a new initiative to enable faster cross-border payments for gig workers, freelancers, and digital creators, according to Bloomberg. The pilot aims to simplify how global earners receive funds by allowing platforms to pay directly in USDC, reducing reliance on traditional banking rails and long settlement times

Under the program, Visa is working with select payment partners and creator platforms to issue payouts in USD Coin (USDC) on supported blockchain networks. Recipients can then convert the funds into local currency or spend them digitally using Visa credentials linked to compatible wallets. The approach offers near-instant settlement, lower transaction costs, and improved accessibility for users in underbanked markets

The move marks Visa’s latest expansion into digital assets, following earlier work integrating stablecoins into its treasury and settlement systems. Analysts view the pilot as a significant step toward bridging traditional payments with blockchain-based infrastructure, particularly for cross-border earnings in the gig and creator economies.
