FCA launches Open Finance Accelerator #

The UK’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has unveiled an Open Finance Accelerator, a new initiative designed to foster innovation in data sharing and financial connectivity beyond traditional open banking. The accelerator will bring together financial institutions, fintechs, and data providers to develop and test new open finance use cases under regulatory guidance

According to Finextra, the program aims to explore how consumers and businesses can benefit from broader access to financial data—spanning savings, investments, pensions, and insurance—while maintaining high standards of privacy and security. The FCA plans to support participants with sandbox-style resources, including technical infrastructure and compliance expertise

The move builds on the UK’s position as a leader in open banking regulation and signals the FCA’s commitment to accelerating adoption of open finance frameworks. It also aligns with government ambitions to strengthen competition and empower consumers through greater control of their financial information.
