Klarna Card Hits One Million U.S. Sign-Ups in Just 11 Weeks #
Klarna announced that its debit card has surpassed one million U.S. sign-ups only 11 weeks after launch, marking one of the company’s fastest adoption milestones. The card allows consumers to pay upfront or split purchases into installments, and has already grown to account for a significant share of Klarna’s U.S. transaction volume
The U.S. rollout follows the card’s success in Europe, where it is live in 15 markets. Klarna says demand reflects strong consumer appetite for greater flexibility and choice at checkout, bridging debit and credit in a single product. CEO Sebastian Siemiatkowski highlighted the card as part of Klarna’s broader strategy to diversify beyond BNPL and become a global payments and shopping platform
The milestone underscores Klarna’s momentum as it prepares for a highly anticipated IPO, with U.S. growth seen as a critical component of its valuation story. The company is also expanding into financial services and AI-driven shopping tools to strengthen its ecosystem.
