Google and PayPal Sign Multi-Year Deal to Drive AI-Powered Commerce #
Google and PayPal have entered into a multi-year collaboration to advance AI-driven shopping and payments. The agreement centers on Google’s Agent Payments Protocol, which uses cryptographically-signed digital mandates to authorize transactions, enabling both real-time purchases and delegated shopping by AI agents. PayPal’s checkout, Hyperwallet, and Payouts services will be integrated across Google’s shopping and payment platforms, while its enterprise payments unit will process card payments for Google Cloud, Ads, and Play
PayPal CEO Alex Chriss said the partnership aims to “redefine what’s possible at global scale,” combining PayPal’s payments infrastructure with Google’s agentic commerce ambitions to build trust and reach billions of users worldwide. The move highlights the growing convergence of payments and AI, with agentic systems set to reshape how consumers and merchants interact.
