Santander Partners with OpenAI to Accelerate AI-Native Banking #
Banco Santander has partnered with OpenAI to deploy ChatGPT Enterprise to 15,000 employees across Europe and the Americas, with plans to expand to 30,000 by year-end—around 15% of its workforce. The rollout supports the bank’s “AI-native” strategy, embedding AI into customer service, product development, marketing, and operations.
Early use cases include AI investment copilots, hyper-personalised customer journeys, and automated back-office workflows, contributing to over €200 million in savings in 2024. Santander plans mandatory AI training for all employees from 2026 and aims to scale “agentic AI” for conversational banking and end-to-end process automation.
